2017 AACC Conference & Networking Lunch in Nashville, TN
The Envoy Group spent four days exhibiting and networking at the 2017 American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) Global Conference in Nashville, TN. We love this particular conference because Christian counselors from all over the world come to receive training and gather resources for their work, which they can take back to their foundations, non-profits, churches and businesses. The Envoy Group offers itself as a resource to case workers, pastors, counselors and professionals in an effort to help the families in their care.
The Envoy Group also hosted a luncheon for our professional network members and staff. It was a great time of fellowship and networking for everyone involved!
This year we had "The Envoy Row" at the AACC, with roughly 12 programs in our professional network attending the conference. Most of them ended up in the same exhibiting row as The Envoy Group, per our request to the AACC, which helped all of our programs to spend their down-time discussing and building relationships with like-minded people doing the same work across the country. Many programs that did not get to participate requested directly to the AACC that they be a part of the row in the next conference in Dallas.
As we continue our work in educating and providing information about good, healthy, well-run therapeutic boarding schools, residential treatment centers and wilderness therapy programs, we are encouraged by the response and positive stories we have heard from counselors and professionals. Many counselors, pastors and program directors now keep us on speed dial when they need help finding an appropriate program for the child in their care.
One problem we see constantly in the therapeutic boarding school world is a highly competitive atmosphere in which programs fail to share techniques, build relationships, or offer information that may help their programs be better. Over the last decade we have worked to bring programs together to learn from each other and grow in the process. During that time we have grown to love and care for many of the people we work with in this field!
